If you're ever talking with your crush, and your crush asks you this one sentence, then there is a 99% chance that he/she likes you, and you've got yourself a date!

"Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?"

1. The reason people ask this question is because they want to know if you are taken or not!

2. ANOTHER reason why people ask this question is to let you know that they are interested in you!

Surprize!!!!!!!Or Is It???

After bombing the final day of the second internal test, we were getting ready for a surprise birthday party at Dixit’s house.I was trying to kill an orange chameleon at the construction site in the college while Janardhan & few others were busy planning the sequence of events leading up to Dixit’s surprise birthday party. I think Dixit knew twas coming looking at the suspicious behaviour some of the guys. So as soon as the college bus left with Dixit in it, myself,MC,Belvadi,Gowda & NSP went to Belvadi’s house where we were supposed to wait for Janardhan, Bhushan, Ajay & Nithin, all of whom had gone to get the birthday cake. After about an hour at Belvadi’s house all of us were feeling really hungry when the cake boys arrived. The cake needed some cooling ,so a bunch of us myself,Janardhan,Gowda & NSP left for Dixit’s apartment and on the way we were joined by Nithin & Bhushan who had gone to buy the birthday boy, a football jersey. I had my doubts on the size of the Jersey from the very beginning, all of which were confirmed after gifting it to Dixit.

Girish aka Vadi Velu(I don’t know why they call him that) was supposed to meet all us outside Dixit’s apartment gate, and meet us he did but with a grinning Dixit standing beside him. THANKS A LOT VADI!!!It was all over, all that secrecy, those silent whispers, hushed voices.........all of which Vadi blew in one retarded moment. What actually happened was that since Dixit was planning to visit his grandma in the afternoon, Janardhan had tried to delay his visit by telling him that he needed Dixit’s 3rd semester text books for his fictitious cousin who was still in 2nd semester :D. Dixit was waiting for Janardhan at the apartment gate when he spotted Vadi sitting outside the park which was right outside the apartment gate. Vadi apparently tried desperately to think of some reason as to why he was sitting outside the park in front of Dixit’s apartment gate on a hot Saturday afternoon.

Voila!!!With our surprise party busted, all of us were mad at Vadi, nevertheless we headed to Dixit’s apartment where we were greeted by his father & kid brother who apparently kicks his ass. While we waited for Belvadi & co to get the cake, I decided we ought to surprise at least somebody that day,so we decided to surprise the cake boys: Belvadi, Ajay & MC when they arrive at Dixit’s doorstep by already being inside Dixit’s house. While the cake boys were on their way we played some table tennis at which all of us sucked except for Dixit :) .When the cake boys arrived we were again busted as they spotted our footwear outside the doorstep. The cake was a leachy flavoured one which was the birthday boy’s preferred, but I din’t quiet like it as I thought it was really sweet and that was maybe because of the top layer of Jam. We planted the candles & the birthday song was sung with a few changes in the lyrics by me :D.As usual the fat boys, myself and Janardhan took it upon ourselves the task of finishing the cake.

But the bigger surprise came from NSP who declared that he would not eat the birthday cake as it contained egg in it, so much for the chicken biriyani which he cleaned up few months ago when myself & Double(another fat boy) were struggling to finish it. After finishing off the cake we decided it was time to leave. On the way out, as usual we tried to give Vadi birthday bumps(he gets birthday bumps on everybody’s birthday) and today everybody was pissed at him for being a bum. Vadi tried evading by making a run for it. In his struggle to save his precious ass, Vadi ran rubgy style and the featherlite Nithin was sent flying into the gutter trying to stop him. When I tried stopping him, I don’t know how but my index finger and middle finger went into his mouth causing a small cut and thats when we gave up :D. Outside the apartment we bade Dixit goodbye and then left for home only to get stuck in the Mysore road traffic jam. But it was worth the trouble because of the precious memories of the day when Vadi became a wet blanket.

Another Day In Paradise

4 weeks back :
It was about 8 am in the morning today,I cast my vote and set off from BTM to White Field area where Anoop had suggested that we have shoot on the Anglo Indian community based there. After getting lost for a while I finally managed to reach there with the help of Anoop who was already there with Bhaskar. Upon reaching there I found out that the church we had decided had nothing interesting on the topic we decided to have the shoot on, so we set off to another church close by where we were told that we could take pictures only after the prayer service was over, so we had about an hour’s of time to kill. Bhaskar was feeling hungry so we had some breakfast at a near by fast food joint. Few cigarettes later, armed with our cameras, we found ourselves at a local park where Anoop tried clicking some pics with my 50mm on his brand new 1000D, we strolled around the park for sometime where we captured a few butterflies and some children playing.

After that we were just strolling around the road outside the park when suddenly we were struck by a sense of calm & peace. It was then that we stumble across ‘Perfect Peace’. Its actually the name of the house belonging to Mr. Paul D’souza(hope I ve spelt that right). We were about to leave after photographing the house & its garden from outside when Mr. D’souza came upto the gate and invited us to come in and take pictures. Built in 1914 ‘Perfect Peace’ is one of the few remaining Anglo-Indian architectures in Bangalore and as Mr. D’souza says “we intend to keep it that way” and that “it would be a crime not to allow people of the city to visit one of the few remaining places in the city where man and nature live in harmony”. As we entered the gate we were greeted my chirping birds, squirrels & a cool breeze as if they were all a part of Mr. D’souza’s family. As soon as we entered we saw a squirrel sitting on a table in the porch, lost in its own world munching away some of the food Mr. D’souza had kept for them. Also the fact that these creatures had been so accustomed to the love & care of the residents of the house that they so freely interact with them amazed the three of us. Mr D’souza brought some chips of which he asked Anoop to holdout a small piece in his hand and no sooner than he did that, a squirrel came running down from one of the trees, came to Anoop, took the chip and ran away. Similar story is also with the birds in the garden for whom Mr. D’souza has put up bird houses around various trees in the garden. Mr. D’souza also told us about the story of the crows & the cuckoos in t he garden wherein the male cuckoo goes and sits in the crow’s nest when the crows are away, upon spotting the cuckoo in their nest the male & the female crow try to chase away the male cuckoo, as they are busy chasing the male cuckoo, the female cuckoo comes into the empty crow nest and lays its eggs. The crows finally bring up the young cuckoo birds when they hatch as there is not much difference between the young cuckoos & crows. All these things although may be fascinating to us city folk, this is something that the residents of ‘Perfect Peace’ see & experience almost everyday. Mr D’souza also showed us how to manually pollinate some plant(I forgot its name) with the help a small broom stick(will post the pictures on that). After that we he showed us how to make a water hole for the birds with the help of an inverted half litre coke bottle. In the meanwhile Mr. D’souza’s mother made us some delicious sugarcane juice after which he showed us the fishes in the two smalls man-made ponds in the garden. We had to be careful with our juice glasses which the squirrels loved to push off the table. The squirrels also help Mr. D’souza by pushing off the wood apples from tree in the garden, he also offered us some wood apples which we gladly accepted. After Bhaskar was done with educating Mr. D’souza about some recipes with the wood apple we decided it was time to leave.

As we were about to leave we met Mr. Praveen Gowda, one of the earliest resident of white field and to whom Mr. D’souza introduced us to. Mr.Gowda offered to guide us though some of the oldest houses in white field, he also told us that the ground which was in front of Mr.D’souza’s house(where some boys were playing cricket) used to house the cannons of the British army once upon a time. We then went to the Inn where Winston Churchill used to visit his mistress Ema Hamilton between world wars I and II, it seems Churchill would come to the Inn from Bangalore during the weekends(talk about Bangalore Weekend C****s :-D) riding his horse. We went inside the place which had a pre independence feel to it, but unfortunately we could not go in as the residents were not home.It seems Churchill loved Ema Hamilton so much that he watched the movie 'Ema' inside his bunker during the world war for about 17-20 times. After that we saw some modern houses including that of business tycoon Asim Premji’s house which is located right beside the Inn & also many other old houses whose original residents were supposed to be the poor people like railway ticket collectors, etc & also the land for the inner and outer circle was donated by the Maharajah(I don’t remember which one). Finally at about 1pm we decided to head home but only after having met some of the friendliest, kindest & most hospitable people in Bangalore. All in all a great outing. Cheers!!!

When Everything Went Wrong!!!

So I found this lake the other day near my college. The college students like to call it the ‘Crocodile lake’ as its located somewhere deep in the middle of the woods. We decided on Thursday evening about a long drive to the lake. Around 6 people were confirmed on Thursday evening: Aamir & *ahem*, Jeelani & *ahem* and myself and Shirish. Come Thursday 4pm, Aamir & *ahem* were nowhere to be found(even after thousands of calls and smses) and the other *ahem* too din show up. So just the three of us, myself, Jeelani & Shirish decided to go ahead with the ride. Jeelani and Shrish on the RX-135 and myself on the Thunderbird. We left at around 4pm & reached the small opening through which we could sneak into the NICE road only to find a freshly build concrete wall!!! Jeelani wanted to go back home, but I was determined to make something of the evening, so we turned around and drove all the way up to the Kanakpura road end of the NICE road. We paid the toll and started the ride and maybe it was the great road or just the setting that made us crazy, suddenly myself and Jeelani were ripping at speeds of 115km/hr.I don’t know for how long we continued, but I think riding at break neck speeds with the sun setting on one of the best roads in the city(this one is on the outskirts) passing by lakes, fields, farmers and birds returning home relaxes you more than any other form of meditation. We briefly stopped to take some pictures along the road but Jeelani as usual is always in a hurry. Since I was riding alone I took my own sweet time stopping at many points to take pictures and I got some amazing shots too.
We soon found that the road divider extended all the way up to the other end of the NICE road, so there was no way we could reach ‘Crocodile Lake’ before sunset, so we decided to go there some other time.
But just the ride along the NICE road with the cool evening breeze lashing at our faces was worth every bit of the trouble. It was 6:30 in the evening by the time we reached the other end of the road. After that we went to Gandhi Bazaar and there we went to this hotel called ‘Upahardarshni’ where according to Jeelani you get the second best dosas in Bangalore. And that was the day when everything went wrong, not so bad was it.......

Finally bought my first DSLR

I finally managed to buy my first Dslr camera, the Canon EOS 450D after a wait that would seem like eternity. At first I was actually planning to buy the thing last week but as usually the college decides to be a pain in the butt and schedules the second internal tests in the same week.God!!!I mean having all the cash I need,I still couldn't buy the damn camera.OK so very patiently I scribble down the tests for 3 days and then on Thursday April 30th, after reading and scanning through hundreds of review I decide upon the EOS 450D.One of my friends suggested a camera shop named Photo Circle which actually is pretty famous around here in Bangalore. After getting lost in virtually a jungle of small streets we finally find the shop which in my opinion is the smallest camera shop in Bangalore, but the guys got some stuff in there which even the biggest shops in Bangalore take weeks to get.

So I go down there with a friend and get the following stuff:
1)Canon EOS 450D with 18-55 IS kit lens

2)Canon 55-250 telephoto zoom lens

3)Canon 50mm,f1.8 prime lens

4)Sandisk 8GB Extreme III SD card

5)UV filters(3) and lens hood(the shop owner Mr Jayesh Mehta gave this stuff as a compliment)

Here's one my first pics with the camera

Right now I am getting familiarized with the camera, will post some more pics and reviews soon.
